Lula holds up EU trade deal in bid to protect Brazil’s domestic industry - Lemmy.world

> Brazil’s president Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has ruled out signing a trade deal with the EU unless Brussels eases requirements for Brasília to open up its manufacturing industry to foreign competition. > Lula, who is in Brussels to try to speed up progress on a trade deal between Brussels and the Mercosur bloc of four South American countries, said he wanted to change rules that would prevent signatories handing government contracts to domestic companies without a competitive process that would be open to foreign firms. > A proposal circulated between the Brazilian, Argentine, Uruguayan and Paraguayan officials that are working on the deal would, Lula said, allow governments to continue to award contracts to smaller domestic firms, as “every country in the world” does, and support a “sovereign industrial policy”. > It would be presented in Brussels “within two to three weeks”, Lula said at a press conference, saying he believed the EU officials would bend to the Latin American countries’ demands.

Debian 12 netinst fails with glitched screen - Lemmy.world

I’m currently unable to install Debian using the latest netinst from https://www.debian.org/distrib/ [https://www.debian.org/distrib/], when selecting any “Install” option, the screen glitches. Looking up the issue in the internet, it seems Debian is trying to launch the wrong resolution, some users suggest using the “Help” option in the menu to do something related to VGA but there is no such option on my screen. Another user successfully Debian by actually editing their ISO to include the correct resolution… sorry if that’s what it takes to install Debian, then I won’t. I’m not interested in the liveusb version as it is heavily bloated, if anyone knows of a command to trim down the live version to be the same as the netinst, I may try the Live CD.

Pentagon blasted for failing five audits and missing 61% of assets: 'All gone to Zelensky!' - Lemmy.world

> Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) ripped the Department of Defense’s finances for failing its fifth consecutive audit and inability to account for 61% of its $3.5 trillion in assets. > “The most ravenous Leviathan of our government that devours the people’s wealth is the Department of Defense,” Higgins said in an impassioned speech during a House Committee on Oversight and Accountability hearing on the DOD’s failed audit, financial management practices.

“We are sending a very dangerous message that if you’re the right type of neo-Nazis, we will not only work with you, we will celebrate you,” Golinkin notes.

Can’t tell if this Golinkin is nazi or not, probably just a very bad use of “we” though.

I also wonder what the “right type of neo-Nazis” is, all nazis are scum.
