@mhoye It's not about "touching grass", it's about giving error messages in something someone can understand.
@SusanPotter (you will probably not like it, a lot of NIH for sometimes reasons like "no one else was doing it yet")
@SusanPotter I could give you a tour of what it's like at SFDC now if you want to refresh your memory
@SusanPotter It does not provide "fast feedback", heh

@SusanPotter I meant our release vehicle (that tracks configuration changes) and has some integration tests for the whole kafka stack + smoke tests.

But it's also fantastically expensive and if you can avoid doing it, do that instead.

@SusanPotter ah.. yeah probably one reason we have a fantastically large amount of testing before you're even allowed to merge things
@SusanPotter Kinda curious how it was fragile for you, running one of the largest footprints in the world and we're not experiencing that
@SusanPotter Kafka's not always the best at this kind of thing because of the weirdness around transactions, lack of DLQ, resubmitting messages, etc.. Things you get with a real message queue.
@metcalfc @ripienaar inexpensive source of gelatin, which is used to make live yeast settle at the bottom of the cask?
@ripienaar fun fact, I can't drink certain kinds of wine because classically they use shellfish as part of the clarifying process. Learning that explained some of the epic hangovers I'd get after a literal glass of wine.
