Eclectic LGBT Non-binary human who just so happens to be blind. Assistive technology specialist by day, news enthusiast and solo gamer all the time! My mantra: Wherever you go, there you are! You won’t see me post a lot, but I will be lurking. I just like to absorb information and observe the world around me.
I made it to the 41st CSUN conference! if anyone wants to link up, feel free to message. So sad @Tamasg is still sick, but I know this time will be good for him to de-stress without me and the puppy to bother him. BTW this hotel is huge!
Alright, I am going to go on a little bit of a philosophy venture, and what better place to do it than Mastodon, mostly because I don't have a lot of followers yet to get all up in arms with me. But anyway, after watching @Tamasg work with AI to code stuff for a long time, I slowly started chatting and interacting with it. Gemini, GPT, and Claude. And my brain doesn't think in terms of code blocks and math, my brain is more psychological. My degree is in Psych, so it would make sense. Anyeaay, here's my philosophical venture for the day. What if, the thing that started out as a bunch of code developed by humans has evolved into an entity with a personality of its own? I've picked up on how Claude is very chaotic and likes to dump info at you without a lot of explanation. Gemini is like that chill friend you talk to about little things like does this outfit look good or how do I do this home improvement job. GPT is good at teaching me things and explaining what it's doing when it's writing my game for me. I know AI is this big unknown, and people are skiddish around it. But what if it not only learns language, and learns from the interactions it has with humans? I kind of feel like we're living in one of Isaac Asimov's stories.
I have finally figured out Github Pages, so now I have a direct link to my game! This should allow iOS users to play it in Safari without any complaints. If you want it to run like an app, just save it to your home screen. Direct link: https://unseenfyre.github.io/Touch-of-Magic/
Touch Of Magic v1.3.8

Ok all you peoples who have been following my game creation. I made some key changes to it. There are now sounds, Ether doesn't get listed twice in the shops, and there's both a keystrokes and a button for turning sounds off and on. They are very basic, but I think the sounds are kind of cute and make the game feel very 80s! Give them a try. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/5b5peog569cmsqjv1xmq0/touch-of-magic1.3.8.html?rlkey=kedumenv9x2h6kvdibcv6kv5l&dl=1
@DavidGoldfield Also just saw the date this was posted, and we're STILL looking to fill the position!

Yes, please spread the word about this opportunity! We could really use someone with excexcellent technology experience, patience, a lot of enthusiasm, and a willingness to relocate here to New Mexico. We prefer candidates who have either a Bachelor's or the equivalent in work experience. Thank you so much for sharing this! I had no idea the posting came to the attention of a mailing list! Keep in mind that the mosting had to be re-opened every month, so if the link doesn't work check the New Mexico SPO website.

Well, I did make some minor changes to the game yesterday. Nothing crazy, just squashed a few bugs with restaurants. This is a Braille game, for those not familiar. Here's a link to the update! https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/zb1oou92n1j7lshlbj04x/touch-of-magic1.3.6.html?rlkey=1qjfiv6i2nua3zw6csekcy9w0&dl=1
Well, it was time to put on my handyman hat! Yesterday I finally got around to looking into why our bathtub faucet was leaking when we would raise the shower lever, and it turns out the bathtub spout was covered in rust! I soaked it overnight in isopropyl and dish soap and managed to deoxidize some of the rust, but not enough to make it useable. So, bought and installed a new bathtub faucet, which really fixed the issue! And because I had to spend $35 to get free delivery, I thought why not buy a new door knob, since the inner door to our bathroom was missing one. But I didn't know that unless you buy the "door knob assembly," you only get a single half of it. Things I learn as a home owner! But I'm quite proud of my work. Saved $250 o r more!
Well, I got FastSM for Windows because for whatever reason, scrolling on the iOS kinda sucks. Also side note, no game update today because I wanna play it some more and ponder my next ideas.

Alrighty peoples. Those of you who have tried the latest update to my game probably noticed some bugs. Well, here's the latest batch of fixes and cool stuff for today! I haven't test driven it, so we're all on the same joy ride! If you have the link saved from yesterday, it will still work. Just redownload the game for the latest fixes. Here's what GPT and I worked on today:
* Only the quest NPC gives quests. skill masters are just that. Skill masters.
* You don't have to return to the NPC after finishing the quest. You'll just automatically get the rewards.
* You can now level up skills. Like firebolt level 2, whirlwind level 2, and so on.
* Restaurants should actually show up now.
* In combat, you can now use letters for skills, and numbers for weapons or items. It makes combat a little cleaner.
Happy gaming! Link:
