@binary_redemption You said monad!

What do you bet Wordle won't accept it?

@pkrugman Skunkworks development of cheap interceptor of slow, noisy Iranian drones. A "sound seeking missile? A "proximity to noise source fused" anti-aircraft shell?
@qcoding Clarity is never bad.
@rebeccaeilering Almost all my book reading is listening. I have mixed feelings boosting Audible.com because Jeff Bezos owns it and they expire left over book credits that you paid for, but giving them credit:
1) l listen any time doing mindless tasks: chores inside or out, driving, exercising even when I've had mindless jobs.
2) I get so much reading done, even "impossible" long authors like Dickens. Easily half of it is non-fiction that I'd never have the patience for any other way. I've listened to 40 hour books. I even deliberately save interesting but dry books for when I can't sleep. (Careful, becomes a crutch).
3) Yet I'm not sitting on my butt for hours on end straining my eyes & wrecking my back
4) Particularly with the free listens, "Great Courses" & periodic sales, it's a great value if you use it heavily
5) I almost never have to worry whether they carry a title. Not that all books are available in audio, but among the huge number that are, they seem to have almost all.
@TheAlexHernandez Yeah? They make an over the range microwave that lasts more than 18 months? Because nobody else does.

@joecarlwhite Try buying a Whirlpool Amana Maytag microwave & hood - goes 18 months.

10 year warranty emblazoned right on the front. Heh heh, covers "welds" & "magnatron" - if a $150 service call finds one of those things wrong.

I preferred their previous model that tried to burn the house down twice. At least it got free repairs!

@mcopelov @pkrugman My pet theory was GOP badmouthing Obama recovery mostly prolonged it.

Then the bankers about face to "Gotta juice the Orangutan! 'Cause he says so, damn every kind of reason!"

Till next Dem & it's back to, "Runaway train, reverse engines!" - only to outsmart themselves again, with an economy chugging along.

@provisionalidea Somebody's always objecting to everything, but I'm unsure what "left" objections to tech you have in mind.
- Fear of AI? (I'm scared of abdication of responsibility - well under way in the human biological realm).
- Negative effects of social media algorithms? (A logical extension of existing crap popular culture, so yeah, still lousy).
- "Job destroying automation" - bad because the 3rd world has so many 8 year olds who ought to be slaving instead of machines?

- Galloping change leaving its monkey man creators trying to play catch up? Okay, that one's scary. Bring me a plow horse, I'm going Amish!

At some point tech has to be a deliberate choice. After all, we put aside the gulliotine & gas warfare. One way or another choices happen.

Right now I should be out digging a hole instead of Tooting. Driveway drainage issue & I need the exercise - but instead Wall-E larva like we collectively wriggle toward our Hollywood release....

@DevinCow MAGA 2024

@tia6o In bird land you suppress the criminal MAGA element by simply blocking. Engaging in discussion you just boost their visibility.

Then there are those who block for any disagreement - even when you're basically on the same page. Sigh.
