if you couldn't tell, I hang in the corner at parties

@cwtch

Hello,

Would you say that a goal of the project would be to eventually have something resembling the features of discord for a small community (say, topic channels and some nice text features, if not voice/video chat)?

The lack of (safe) encryption in FOSS slack/discord alteratives is a concern. Most of the FOSS communication projects with decent encryption seem very unsuitable for large communities. But with the ability to make multiple separate identities, cwtch seems to have unique potential for community usecases. I know SimpleX seems to be going down this route, but... lots of weird things happening over there.

Or is this something best pursued elsewhere? I guess XMPP is the only thing I can think of right now. I'm not very clued up about the landscape here.

Let's say I have a collection of documents (pdf or images etc.).

For each document I have the original, for some I have transcribed text (and for some of those an additional layer featuring translated text if the original was non-English).

On top of those I have my own semi-structured notes regarding the document (context, source, links to other documents, meaning).

Does there exist a (foss) file format/program that I can use to view/structure/store/edit those various semantic layers?
