I like urbanism, space, and technology. I'm still getting used to Mastodon, and social media in general.

I'll post about things that I like, and questions that I have. I'll try not to get too political, or religious, but when I do, it'll be genuine, and polite.

Non-literal statements will always be marked. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tone_indicator)

I like how the blue vertical stabilizers (or whatever they are) don't ruin the cockpit's visibility anymore.

I thought the wings looked thin, but then I remembered that they're the first thing to break in 64. It is a spacecraft, so I guess they compromised on the wings.

The circular feature on the top surprises me. 64's intro shows the pilot enters via the canopy, and the craft lies on a rail. So it can't be a hatch or dock. Maybe it's a maintenance hatch.

@benlk over what period?
@SandyO, I haven't even read the article you've linked, but having a bag on you at all time sounds practical.

This week, I went over to Bluesky and asked people who'd left Mastodon why they left, and lots of people told me. I grabbed the replies and crunched them and wrote up a summary. I think it's really interesting and often kind of wrenching.

@viktuuri0nIce Most instances take a stance against hate speech and alike, so it shouldn't be a big problem.

Just check their "about" page by clicking on the "Learn more" button, and read the server rules.

My instance has the rules:

"No racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, or any other form of discrimination."

And

"Do not harass other users."

I believe these kinds of rules are standard. and remember that smaller instances usually have a better user/mod ratio.

@anders @obsidian

This sounds like a great idea, so if it's not a feature, hopefully it will be some day.

Obsidian please answer this question. I'd like to know if this is a feature. if not, then is it planned? If not, then are you considering it?

@viktuuri0nIce

**I've only been on one instance.**

The most important thing is that you find an instance that tolerates LGBTQ and neurodivergent people.

This is because instances understand that you aren't going to post about their subject exclusively, or even much, but some Instances may have an intolerant community.

You also probably want to pick a smaller Instance because you'll have a bigger say in how it's run.

Sorry if I'm too late, and I hope you find a good instance.

@obsidian I don't know much about the alternatives, but I like how bounties let people who aren't programers contribute to a specific feature. It lets them vote with their wallet, and theoretically the bounties can only grow.

It also makes Obsidian more similar to open-source projects. Which is the one drawback to Obsidian **in my opinion**.
