My mom made my dad put an off switch on the kitchen smoke detector, so every night it would go
Detector: BEEP BEEP
Mom: goddammit *grabs broom* *smacks at switch lever*
Detector: BEEP BE—
Mom: DINNER’S READY!!
Maaaaybe the reason why my quickbooks “errors” have built up to where they needed to call me about them is because it’s UI is frustrating bullshit and I don’t want to deal with making all the “rules” 7-8 more times for literally every financial transaction I’ve had all year. When all the rules were already set, and IT HAS THEM ON FILE IT COULD JUST USE THE RULE I MADE FOR THE THING AND NOT ASK ME ABOUT IT AGAIN
And like, on one hand this is my own dumb fault for mixing up a 2 and a 5 in my memory, but otoh I’d generally appreciate it if the bank could quit doing minor things wrong/weird with my every cash deposit (wrong account, forget cash back, machine can’t count $2 bills), none of it makes me want to quit them, but every time I fill in the little deposit slips carefully, and then they just do whatever anyway 🙃
Last month I deposited some cash from the shop, and the bank teller put it in personal checking and not buss, so I irritatedly moved it back. And then today I go balancing my checkbook(app), and learn I moved back $300 more than I was supposed to 🤦♀️
It probably says good things that I didn’t notice/need that much, but like…I DIDN’T NOT NEED IT
I found the first book ok, if boring and extremely overhyped. But the SECOND book is also getting lots of hype, so it should be at least survivable, right?

My cat running around with some zoomies until she realizes I’m looking at her, and then she does a little innocent roll onto her side hoping for scritchies because she wasn’t zooming, nu-uh, no way, please scratch the tummy 🥺
Did I drink wine and then order pizza? Maybe
Can I blame the wine for the pizza? Not actually
Will I do so anyway? Hell fucking yeah!
All joking aside, the loss of pollinators is costing human lives. A new study finds global pollinator losses are already causing 500,000 early human deaths a year. Three-quarters of crops require pollination. We need to bee more mindful and protect pollinators.

Insect declines mean reduced yields of healthy foods like fruit and vegetables and increased disease in people, study finds.

Christine Lemmer-Webber (@cwebber) described ChatGPT as Mansplaining As A Service, and honestly I can’t think of a better description. A service that instantly generates vaguely plausible sounding yet totally fabricated and baseless lectures in an instant with unflagging confidence in its own correctness on any topic, without concern, regard or even awareness of the level of expertise of its audience.
And, of course I had to sign into the damn app with my email account (on an itty itty itty bitty gboard WTactualF), so now google is having a g-d meltdown about new devices 😩
Why can’t my dad’s hobby that he keeps trying to share with us involve…idk…yarn? Or at least fewer esoteric pieces of weird tech that it seems weird to refuse, but also that I pretty much never want to use of my own accord (and also also he basically just ignores me when I do politely refuse them—or rudely refuse them😅)
