Yup. Prior to video games no one wasted hours a day staring at the TV, or listening to the radio, or reading the newspaper, with nothing to show for it… no one talked on the phone for hours a day just to gossip with nothing to show for it… but lets lump all of that technology in together since the printing press was invented together with the evil video games and go back a bit further…
Surely back in those wonderful times no one was wasting their lives on useless things. No one drank away their day with nothing to show for it… no one sat around telling pointless stories to anyone who was bored and willing to listen. Kids didnt waste their time drawing in the sand or playing in the mud. It was nothing but hard work and learning back in the good ol days.
There is no amount of civilians that beat the US military. You could gather 100% of the “ive got guns to fight the government” crowd, and they wouldnt do shit against tanks, helicopters, and jets… a mob is going to die unless there is an insurrection in the ranks of the people who control the equipment.
I hope this tasted great, but if I am being honest, the picture looks like aweful slop. Please tell me it was delicious so I can sleep happily.
This has always been my point when people say “back in the good ol days” or “Make America great again” or any other nonsense about how it used to be better… this is pretty much the best it has ever been! Even with the dipshit in office at the moment, it has pretty much always been greedy dipshits in control… we are raising the best generation to date in terms of nutrition being provided, the most inclusive in terms of race/gender/sexual preference… all we can do is hope we continue to make gradual improvement. People have always sucked. The elite have always raped and pillaged the poor… but there is less of that now than any time in history… slavery and depravity have been a part of history since we started recording history. I just cross my fingers and try to enlighten the young in my field of influence to be good humans and hope that some day we might not be as horrible as we have always been.
Wow… pretty wild take considering most of those are widely considered some of the best games of all time. I will say, I have had some games and movies that were considered great, get ruined for me because I heard the hype before playing or watching, and went in to it with very high expectations.
I hear what you are saying my friend… I(US citizen) am not happy with what is going on, but what can I really do to make a change? I vote, and other than that, I work 50-60 hours a week to try and support my family and try to teach them to be good and do the right things. I dont have the time or resources to go protest in Washington… Im working my ass off to suport my family. The system here sucks and was built by others before my time. Do you want me to grab my guns and go battle ICE/the government single handedly and leave my kids to fend for themselves? Im just trying to get by. I havent been to a doctor in decades because I cant afford it… I send my kids instead, because that is more important to me. So you can sit on the sideline and say I am doing nothing, but Im voting and hoping for the best, but I cant battle the government corruption single handedly while I am trying to keep my kids alive and healthy. Tell me what to do. PLEASE!!!
Then how would Disney make money if they didnt continue being able to sell 70 year old movies at full price??? Stop being such a greedy asshole Dreamlsnd!!! Disney needs to make a reasonable income, and public domain was always a silly idea.
Lemmy has the feel to me that reddit did back in the day. I can only imagine as lemmy gets more popular and becomes big enough for big tech to take notice, that it will become consumed by the same garbage reddit has. Lemmy just isnt big enough yet for them to try and consume.
So for now Lemmy is great, but its only a matter of time before the turds find us here too.
