Housing 4 All is Hot
@ahouse4all
I regularly ask ppl what items have been thrown away during sweeps and this week they've said:

Family pictures of dead relatives, housing waitlist paperwork, ID, a phone book with the numbers of family they don't know by heart, cash they were saving for an apartment deposit.

Listen no one is "vilifying" rich people. They ARE villains. If you run a billion dollar company, give yourself millions in dollars and benefits, but pay your individual workers less than a living wage and give them shitty insurance, what are you if not a villain?

While under his "leadership" as CEO, UnitedHealthcare deployed an AI model with a 90% error rate—which UHC knew about!—to deny lifesaving coverage to millions of people—all of whom have families.

He was a serial killer. And he should be remembered as such.

We pay too much attention to the most confident voices—and too little attention to the most thoughtful ones.

Certainty is not a sign of credibility. Speaking assertively is not a substitute for thinking deeply.

It's better to learn from complex thinkers than smooth talkers.

The highest compliment from someone who disagrees with you is not “You were right.” It’s “You made me think.”

Good arguments help us recognize complexity where we once saw simplicity.

The ultimate purpose of debate is not to produce consensus. It’s to promote critical thinking.

if you told vin diesel fast and the furious you... - True Ultimate Motherfucker

explorerrowan: boogerwookiesugarcookie: wowwforever: if you told vin diesel fast and the furious you were gay he’d be like “Some people like driving stick…some people like driving automatic…what matters is you cross the finish line..” and then he’d rev up a dodge challenger and drive through a building and kill 16 people he literally did in the fourth one when he’s asked if he likes cars more than women If you asked if he was cool with trans people, he’d probably say “sometimes, aftermarket parts are the only way to get the vehicle you really want. Everyone should have the right to hot rod.”

“Nobody wants to work anymore.”

Nobody ever wanted to work at all. We wanted to be productive, be creative, be part of a community, be supported, be validated, and have the time and space to truly rest. No one actually wants to trade in hours of their life to “earn” necessities.

I am so disturbed by this discussion about Facebook/Meta trying to use Threads to retain more or less a market monopoly on profits and monetization ...

Defederation, Threads and You - fediverse - GehirnEimer

A lot of us are pretty new to the fediverse and we've arrived just in time to grapple with what is easily the biggest federation/defederation controversy ever to hit it. I've put this thread together to hopefully help communicate some of the more complex ideas that we're trying to get our heads around....
