Wikimedia Russia has been dissolved.

The general assembly of Wikimedia RU decided to disband after it was made clear to the president of Wikimedia RU, who used to work as an assistant professor at Lomonosov Moscow State University, that he was to be classified as a "foreign agent" and had to resign from his post at the university.

Closing Wikimedia RU was done to protect the (now former) members of the non-profit organization that supports Russian Wikipedia.

Sukces protestu okupacyjnego poznańskich (i nie tylko) studentów i studentek w obronie akademika Jowita może być i mam nadzieję, będzie przełomem mentalnym w tym kraju. W kraju, w którym dominuje wciąż przekonanie, że prywatyzować trzeba wszystko nawet jeśli niszczy to przyszłość młodych ludzi.

Już części ze studentów i studentek, których i które poznałem podczas ich wizyty we Wrocławiu jakiś czas temu, pogratulowałem. Uważam, że tego rodzaju sukcesy „skapują” na wszystkie walki społeczne. W przeciwieństwie do neoliberalnej teorii „skapywania” w której bogactwo rzekomo skapuje w dół, a tak naprawdę zasysane jest przez górę, która staje się coraz bogatsza. Tutaj mamy prawdziwe skapywanie i dyfuzję. Takie przypływy podnoszą wszystkie łodzie. Tak samo jak w walkach pracowniczych, wygrany strajk pracowników jednego zakładu wpływa na siłę przetargową pracowników innego zakładu.

Nie mam zamiaru tu pouczać młodsze osoby. Dobrze, jak sądzę, wiedzą, o co toczy się gra i dokąd zmierzają. Natomiast wydaje mi się, że warto wyjaśnić to widzom i czytelnikom. Nowy minister nauki miał piękną interwencję i na pewno zdobył sporo punktów wizerunkowych, co widać było po euforii w lewicowej bańce na Twitterze.

so for the polish member of parliament grzegorz braun being an antisemite and a xenophobe pays really well.

on the image below you can see fundraisers on a popular polish fundraising portal “zrzutka.pl” organised by one “fundacja osuchowa”, a foundation associated with braun.

the most recent one, started today, raised more than 120000 złoty (roughly $30000).

the previous one, started in 2021 and ended recently, raised slightly more than 500000 zł (roughly $120000).

(it would be nice if those were the results of money laundering, but that would be incredibly optimistic; polish society is antisemitic, and finding a few thousands of gobshites to fund another gobshite is not hard.)

for the comparison: median salary before tax in poland is ~6500 zł (roughly $1600), the minimum wage for a full-time job is, if my memory serves, 3600 zł (roughly $890) before tax; both monthly.

update: the latest fundraiser by braun's foundation was cancelled by zrzutka, and apparently there's a decision from the service to not allow new ones, though people are trying to work around that by using phrasing “for the wife and children of…” etc.
