Nine years ago today, on November 21, 2013, Ukrainians gathered on the Maidan square in Kyiv to protest their corrupt, increasingly autocratic president and his cancellation of a trade agreement with the European Union. At first, just a few people came.
Six northern Michigan counties that don’t have abortion clinics voted to support Proposal 3 — Gogebic, Keweenaw, Alger, Leelanau, Benzie, Manistee and Emmet. Much of the state’s northern region is considered an abortion desert, which means patients seeking abortion care need to travel over 100 miles to get to a clinic.

LANSING — For just the fourth time in 130 years, Democrats will control the governor's office and legislative chambers at the same time — a huge opportunity for them to enact bills that long gathered dust with Republicans in charge.
