The verb “to die“, in English, seems to have morphed into “to sadly die“. Do grammar checkers make this change automatically when people omit “sadly“? What does it even mean? Can we please revert to saying “die”, without the platitudinous S word?

When I graduated in 1984, and became a junior doctor, I had to pay my GMC membership, professional indemnity insurance, and for ongoing professional exams and Royal College membership. Just as junior doctors do now. BUT… 1/
