@jameschip Yeah, I tried it both ways. The instructions actually say to leave it off. I'll check the versions when I'm back at the computer, though. Thanks!

@jameschip Yeah, what I'm running into at this point is that I create the account on the new server just fine, I create the alias to the old account just fine, but then when I do to the old account and day to migrate it over it says that the new account doesn't have the alias set up, even though I can go verify that it does.

@jens Hmm. Maybe I'll wait until after lunch and try it again.

@jens That's basically what I'm trying to do, so far without luck. I've exported and imported most things, although some things failed, but I think I got the important things. I set up the alias in the new account settings. On the old account it just tells me the new account isn't an alias. (???)

I love how every post I find about migrating your account from one Mastodon instance to another: a) gives anywhere from slightly to radically different instructions; b) doesn't work; c) stresses how totally simple migration is.
