Sudan Animal Rescue amid the civil war in Sudan :
A side of a civil war we don't often see, the Sudan Animal Rescue posts an emergency update regarding the sanctuary's critical conditions. They mention that :
- the sanctuary is close to a military base subject to deadly clashes on a daily basis,
- ressources are dangerously low, both in food and drink as well as fuel, goods and materials in the sanctuary and in markets, while one of their main vehicles was stolen,
- power outages are a threat to means of protection as animal enclosures are mainly guarded with electrical appliances,
- they are unable to access the sanctuary safely or have permanent staff on site.
The sanctuary is home to : 25 lions, 6 hyenas, 6 gazelles, 5 wild cats, 2 camels, 5 squirrels, 2 dogs and a large number of birds, monkeys and turtles.
When you and your friend took very different paths in life but still enjoy hanging out together
(Ft. Some lil guys I noticed while repotting plants)
Meet Stumpy ! Named after his mostly lost right foot except for a stump.
Certainly the bravest of my local flock, he was the first to accept being touched, the first to eat in my hand and the first to perch on it when it's too high.
As pigeons are extremely social, he's been a major help in getting the flock to trust me by showing the example, making other pigeons more confident in approaching me. Probably couldn't have saved as many pigeon feetsies without him.
I'm moving soon and I'll really miss this lil guy.
