@btrinen The impeachment process is deliberately political. A "high crime" doesn't mean an egregious indictable offense. "High" in this case (as used in the 17th century when it was written) means a crime committed by someone in high authority; a.k.a. a crime that can only be done because that person has authority. It's hard to indict someone for a crime when they are the ones writing the laws, so the impeachment process was made a political process.
That's good because it puts people's political careers on the line (or should, anyway) if they want to go after someone, someone can be impeached for something that is not on the books as a crime but is causing harm, and the high requirement for conviction is supposed to keep it from being abused.
It's not perfect though, because we sometimes get... this... gestures at everything here
