Small price to pay for security. Maybe some small features are worth having Zuckerberg and friends having access to the most intimate personal shit in your life. For me it’s not a problem.

I think people are open minded about migration, but this place is not exactly a warm welcome to new users. For every 1 person that comes and stays, I’d estimate that 5 do not.

It’s frustrating to navigate, it’s not straightforward on how everything works, the differences between “magazines, people, and threads” is not spelled out…how the fediverse is integrated.

Without a coherent and cohesive redesign and or some polished mobile apps to bring it together, it’s a futile imo. Coming from Apollo and using Reddit for 15 years, as a tech savvy person, I can say with certainty that the average person (specifically Reddit user) won’t make it much past creating an account. Maybe Christian could work on something for the fediverse. I’d pay for a polished mobile app if he released one.

It’s honestly a complete mess through and through. There is no seamless cohesion of the fediverse. It is cumbersome, especially for mobile users. Maybe it’s a little bit better laid out on desktop, but good luck getting mass adoption through desktop.

That is confusing AF tbh. It’s aspects like this of the Fediverse that will continue to hamper adoption. If it’s confusing for tech savvy people, it will only be a barrier to entry. Little to no upfront explanation or tutorial is a problem.

Maybe that’s for the best, but without casual users this place is not gonna get much bigger; even with the Reddit fuck up / migration catalyst.

I might be here for the long-haul, but I see major gaps here. It’s unfortunate because this opportunity is somewhat wasted.
