I’m reading The Way of Kings by Brandon Sanderson. It’s my first Sanderson and I’m a little over 300 pages in. It’s been on my TBR for a few months and finally decided to take it on.
This is awesome. Did you build it? Where are you going to put it? Do you have more pictures of the complete library box?
I got a French press and used it for awhile. I’m extremely lazy though and got tired of having to clean the coffee grounds out of the screen. That’s something I didn’t consider before buying it. I switched to a chemex that I like much better. Yeah, there are disposable filters but it works better for me. If I were starting over, I’d probably just get some kind of pour over thing that fits over my mug. That would take up less space than the chemex.
This is awesome. I bought a 100 pack of razors and a safety razor very similar to yours near the beginning of 2014 and I’m probably only about 25% through the razors. I hated the idea of spending so much on the big name multi blade razors.
I just enjoyed the first cherry tomato of the season from my garden. And from the looks of the rest of the fruit developing on it, we'll have many more in a couple more weeks.
I wonder how the author would compare their scheduled boredom breaks with something like meditation sessions. There's been a lot of study showing the benefits of meditating.
East of Eden is a masterpiece

Book recommendations are good. I really liked the SuggestMeABook subreddit. It'd be nice to have that here.

I think what those other places are missing are some kind of book club. If there's enough critical mass here, it'd be interesting if there could be small groups read a book together and discuss here.

I tend to be one of those people who wants to say yes to everything. That's partially because I'm a people pleaser and don't want to disappoint. But I'm trying to be better about protecting my time. If something doesn't get a "hell yeah" gut reaction from me, it's probably best that I decline. "Present me" tends to overestimate how excited "future me" will be about some commitment.

Having said that though, it should be a healthy balance I think. Some of the better experiences I've had have been ones where I was initially reluctant about them but ended up being glad I did them.

So... Balance. Protect your time. But it's also okay to occasionally step out of the comfort zone.

Yes I did. He recounts his experiences meeting different people around the country. I hope this isn't a spoiler, but what I appreciated was his honest opinions about the different areas and people he met. He wasn't being some pollyanna and trying to find the good in everyone. If he didn't like someone he met or a particular part of the country, he didn't sugarcoat it. And by the last part of his trip, he just wanted to get home to his wife, which I found very relatable when I'm traveling for work or have been on a vacation that's gone on a little too long.
