May not seem like that big of a deal for people used to the Fediverse, but its the kind of thing that will make people giving it a try find it "too hard to use" or "too confusing", turning them away back to traditional social media platforms
What makes it even more confusing is that this doesn't happen on every situation, only in certain circumstances, making it even harder for the average person to figure out whats going on.

If there's a thing that Mastodon NEEDs fixing to be more "average user" friendly is the fact that if you click on a tag posted by someone from another instance, you are redirected to said instance.

This is going to be very confusing for the average non tech savvy user.
"Why can't I follow this person? Why am I not logged in?"

I'm no programmer, so I may be completely wrong, but I believe this shouldn't be hard to fix

Could I tempt you to boost this post, or get involved in a project to customise Linux for users with special needs/learning difficulties? I have two such children. Adults now (18). I want to do something for my boys and for people like them. 🙂❤️

I've already done a bit, using Ansible, with AlmaLinux and Ubuntu: https://github.com/robpomeroy/BrightOS

Please spread the word - I'm sure someone out there would love to get involved!

A highly centralized authority structure is not at odds with highly decentralized decisionmaking. Authority is about who has final say, not about who actively weighs in on every question. I think the opposite is true too: you can have highly decentralized authority yet everyone chooses to follow what one decisionmaker chooses to do.

This is infuriating. It's one thing to stop selling a game, but to aggressively prevent people who've purchased and downloaded it from playing should be a goddamn crime.

I keep saying buy physical, but what if that's not even an option? This is a tragedy. This is gaming history being erased.
