I’m sharing an urgent request for help from a friend and her gender-fluid child, Alex.

Alex has known they were gender-queer for several years, ever since age 2. They’re 12, now. Their father has been deeply unsupportive and emotionally abusive — deadnaming, forcing haircuts, and even involving police to block them from returning to their mom and be forcibly institutionalized.

Alex now struggles with trauma and suicidal thoughts. After refusing to go to their dad’s, their dad sued, Alex was handed over in court, and their dad filed criminal charges against their mom for “interfering”.
