Irregular reminder that I don’t use this account any more, I’m at @Ninji now — I haven’t used the migration feature because I don’t know how many of the folk following me here are still actually active…
I’m waiting until my data export completes before I turn on account migration, but I’ve made a new account at @Ninji
@lambda I’ve switched to @Ninji, just running a data export before I enable account migration

@Televassi I’ve heard it’s struggling under load atm, so I dunno about that @.@

I’m too indecisive to try and pick an instance

Is this thing on

I’m thinking about switching instances but can’t decide what to move to

@kithop @[email protected] The "factory" they mention is EastAeon, a Chinese ODM. They are responsible for manufacturing (on both the Gemini and Cosmo) but also seem to be heavily involved in the device firmware development. And, the reason they're using Digitime is because of EastAeon's existing partnership with them.

Given the state of the Cosmo firmware *and* manufacturing, my opinion of EastAeon is... pretty damn low, tbh

@kithop @[email protected] They sent me the updated package they received from Digitime, which has stripped out both the Lua C&C engine and the Android services backdoor - meaning it is *just* the updater, no other garbage. It still fails at doing TLS properly, but that's not a major risk since Android updates are signed anyway, so I'm not too fussed (and from my emails with them, it seems like Planet want to drop Digitime in the long-term anyway)

@kithop @[email protected] Aw, thanks ^^ I don't usually use Mastodon but Maff linked me to this so figured I'd dig my account up and reply

Would be neat if they gave me something, but I'm not expecting anything. We'll see, I guess

I do love the explanation from Digitime though, it's utter BS, but I guess they had to come up with something semi-reasonable-sounding to try and save face

for some reason there is a red dot beside the Toot! app label and it’s bothering me. only thing i can think of is that it’s a test app

maybe there’s a jailbreak tweak to get rid of it… https://mastodon.social/media/9VIrwKqKsYkt8Juzx4o

problems with coming back to Mastodon after like a year: i have a lot of people to follow back, but a ton of these are just "i’ve moved!" accounts, and a bunch of others are probably abandoned without the profile saying anything :|
