@ScottLucas I lived in Ireland about 10 years ago for grad school. Although I was never physically attacked (others were though), the tracksuit kids constantly yelled racial slurs which made me and a lot of the other foreign students feel unwelcomed. Since the Garda never did anything about it, this was eventually going to spillover into overt violence. I'm not a fan of overly punitive policing but there needs to be actual consequences or the perpetrators will just be emboldened and do it again

@ScottLucas this might have been a concession that Trump made to get the Republican in the House to vote for the bill last week

@kevinrothrock Ukraine cares most about stopping attacks on their territory but this also has the consequence of reducing Russia's ability to attack NATO too
