Vent account.
Nevershipper, which means that I am neither proship or antiship. Just a tired individual.

I guess that I have finally found peace now, knowing that I will never turn back, and I have to move on from the past.

I'll give it like a year or two and then the discourse is finally gone for good.

Anime becoming mainstream in 2016 with the airing of My Hero Academia coincided with the rise of shipping discourse.

However, FCRA rhetoric outside of fandoms weren't very popular yet. It became mainstream along with the worsening of the discourse in 2020 during the COVID-19 lockdowns when people discovered anime out of boredom in their own homes and started crashing out over tropes that have been common for decades.

You know...I've been thinking this for a while.

FCRAs losing their minds over certain types of fictional content mirrors extremist Muslims' freakouts over someone drawing satirical depictions of their prophet Muhammad, or even just normal art.

It's crazy.

I will never forget or forgive you for what you have done to me, Anish Bachchan.
Reminder: modern shipping discourse started on Tumblr in 2016, and it was around the same time period when politics began to infiltrate fandoms and other niche hobbies due to the influence of sex-negative radical feminists.

FCRAs treat fictional characters like real and real people like fictional characters, because they want characters to be real and people to be fake.

The reason why they attack artists that draw Hatsune Miku hentai is because they want to turn the artists into something they're not: pedophiles. They literally want them to molest minors.

This is why people that attack fictional content often get outed as child predators or other horrible things.

I wish I never sacrificed my reputation to appease strangers. I wish I was never exposed to this discourse.

And most importantly...

I wish someone came to warn me.

I felt isolated, alone...

And I almost ruined my IRL relationships over it.

To think that this whole nonsense started over a goddamn Voltron ship.

The proship community has some parallels to the sex industry: One you're in, there's no turning back.

When you join it, nobody warns you of the potential consequences and tell you how to protect yourself apart from using a stealth account. And once you're exposed, nobody is going to hold your hand, and you're left to fight on your own.

You will forever be known as something you're not anymore, even after you die.

Interesting that when I started this account, it was for the sole purpose of talking about where I've been these past 11 months, and now it has turned into a full-blown vent account.

My story is supposed to tell people that being in proship spaces isn't for everybody, and expose the dark side of it from my experience, no matter who gets offended.

Antis often use Wikipedia as proof that lölishöta is illegal in many countries.

I disagree:

1. The laws in question are vaguely-written as they use the "appears to be a minor" statement. Who is to decide what unrealistic cartoon character looks like a child? It's so subjective.

2. Wikipedia is not a reliable source because anyone can edit the pages. Even the site itself admits it.
