@SDF Has something changed with loading the main webpage? I keep getting a timeout.
Was looking to do some research on venture capital as its pretty clear their cooking of the economy is having really negative impacts on the middle class and I just wanted to drill down that assumption with some research....But every search engine is so pro-VC I couldn't find a single even balanced source, never mind one focusing on specific reform options. Its pretty breathtaking how quickly the moneyed class has suppressed even the appearance of opposition.

Somebody submitted an AI-generated essay, 3,000 words, about how to be a freelance writer!? They are banned now!

We could have written a much more effective essay on the same topic, aimed at the same target audience and without relying on an LLM to do our thinking for us, using just 1 word!

Today I wondered, "what time of day should you transplant plants?" The first hit on DuckDuckGo was reasonable-looking, until it suddenly switched to talking about how to recover from an organ transplant. No human writer would make this mistake. Now I don't know if anything I read before that was accurate, or even reviewed by a human before publishing.

Once upon a time the first hit would have been some passionate gardening nerd.

Supercon 2024: A Hacker’s Guide To Analog Design In A Digital World

We often think of analog computing as a relic of the past, room-sized monstrosities filled with vacuum tubes doing their best to calculate Monte Carlo simulations or orbital velocities. Analog isn&…
