I just went ahead and installed GrapheneOS even without the security patches. Google had dropped support I believe so I figured I wasn’t losing much/anything.

Being greeted by an out-of-date warning on boot is fun though.

Thanks for the reply! I’ve since installed GrapheneOS and have been looking around it a little. Could you tell me about you experience using different Launchers? Is it a preference thing or are there features of default GrapheneOS that people don’t like?

Advice on "locking down" my Pixel 5a and turning it into a tool? - sh.itjust.works

Hi, I’m hoping to get some help making my Pixel 5a more utility and less bullshit, but I’m not sure how to word it. In general what I’m hoping to accomplish is this: * Install a new OS to get rid of the Google crap baked into the phone. * Have a list of remaining whitelisted apps that can run on the phone at all, not just limiting permissions. I’m not sure if options like GrapheneOS have an inbuilt white list function. I’m aware that this phone isn’t security supported anymore but I want to run this thing into the god damn ground. There are a lot of posts online about Dumb Phones which I don’t think is what I’m trying to create. I want to be able to use this device as a tool, not a suck-up-all-of-my-time device. So I’d like to keep things like Camera, calls/texts, internet browsing (although I’ll have to block YouTube and such), and any other arbitrary app such as authenticators (advice on alternatives here would also be good appreciated) and advanced calculators. One of the issues I expect is that any whitelist or permissions will be quick and easy for me undo in a moment of boredom, so I’d like the process of undoing this to be slow and painful. There is a philosophy here that I believe my phone as a tool could be great, if every aspect of it wasn’t designed to waste my time and ruin my mental health. I hope I’ve explained what I’m trying to achieve well, it’s not my strong suit. Thanks for any replies, if I wasn’t clear please let me know and I’ll try and explain myself differently.

I think you’re missing the point, they’re pointing out a woman with a VERY comfortable life made up a racist lie to demonise those less fortunate than herself.

The details about the dog and the house are being used to highlight her selfishness and privilege.

A common line these morons use is that foreigners or immigrants are taking resources from people who need them, but she clearly doesn’t need them, she’s just a bigot.

What a world it would be if everyone had minimum 50mbps internet. “Good” rural internet is 1mbps for a lot of peeps, and a whole lot more people have a whole lot lower speeds.

You’d have to check based on your country, but like @[email protected] said in a reply somewhere, companies as far as I know don’t get tax breaks when you donate at checkout.

They do it to look good, don’t get me wrong, but telling people not to donate at checkouts based on a myth is really only harming the charities.

I don’t donate because I’m heartless (is that a win?).

I tried to play Vermintide 2 on Linux after Windows kept giving me issues, but I couldn’t get the Easy Anti-Cheat to stop freaking out about me playing on Linux.

I never found a fix for it, has that changed or is it just luck?

Unironically a lovely poem.
Ah yes, the other stuff.
Just leave the empty gap in the middle? Come on Sam, we’ve got to work together on stuff like this!
