Work: Cyber Security - Minimise the burden. Optimise for balance. Interested in lots of things.
Some MicroFreak experimenting.
Reflecting on 2025. I still strive.
Reflection done, moving on. Let’s run.
Fixing to get in the mix for 2026.
Folks, have a good one.
That’s a wrap.
Train days, plane days, hotel haze.
Everyday
Hiding.
Didn’t want to leave this room.

Freezing foggy walks, Monday thoughts.

I was recalling a recent conversation (with someone new to the industry) during my morning walkies around some of the most important skills and traits that are needed in #cybersecurity.

We very rarely speak of these but in my opinion they are the backbone of your success and longevity. In no particular order:

• Listen to understand
• Empathy & compassion
• Diplomacy & negotiation
• Ability to understand another’s perspective
• Being able to get the little things done
• Being able to foster and build relationships
• Humility, no one has time for sanctimony
• Communication. It's not always about what you say but how you say it. Your tone of voice always matters be it written or verbal.

The most important skill of them all... humour because sometimes (ok, a lot of times) you will have to laugh at a situation.

Oh and don't take yourself too seriously :)

Monday morning walkies and thoughts.

This is for those new to the world of work and especially #cybersecurity.

The work you put into your wellbeing should be equal, if not greater to the work you put into your professional development.

Sharing some lessons learnt.

Sunny Sunday. Chilled walks.
