Two consoles wasn’t really a thing back then. If you had a Nintendo you weren’t really messing with anything older anymore. At least in my experience. If you wanted to switch you just changed the plugs around.

It’s almost like just plopping them into places with people that have never even seen them isn’t a great idea. My city randomly has a couple in busy spots and it’s always a shitshow with people coming across them unexpectedly. They did nothing to prepare people for dealing with them they just built them in 🙄

When I was that age I cried inconsolably over a bluegill I caught that swallowed the hook. Imagining the pain I caused it when they cut the line and threw it back was a lot for me and the adults around me thought it was hilarious that I cared. People trying to defend this by saying kids don’t have empathy or understand what they’re doing are full of shit. If that kid doesn’t have empathy it’s not because he’s 11 it’s because there’s something very wrong with him.

It’s because they don’t care about the science or the kids. They never did.
