Police are now having to use these very heavy steel bollards at public events to protect citizens from right-wing racist extremists (the Liberal party’s “base”) who may be tempted to use a motor vehicle to kill pedestrians.

I guess this is #AUSPOL too, so it has to be hidden behind a content warning.

Turnbull thought Robo Debt was fine.

Politicians should not be allowed to influence decisions about distribution of funds like this. Distribution of funding should be done by a politically independent agency on the basis of evidence and demonstrated auditable need.
Anytime a politician uses the word “woke” - they are publicly admitting “I have nothing of value to say because independent thinking is beyond my limited intellectual abilities”
Sydney Road 20 Nov 2015. What has changed?

The Foreign Investment Review Board is yet another LNP "oversight - but not the big stuff" agencies intentionally set up to do nothing other that provide a cushy nest for political appointees.

FIRB provides about as much oversight and governance as all the obedient public servants involved in Robo Debt, who knew it was illegal but did nothing to stop it.

Property grab: AFP smashes alleged $10 billion Chinese money-laundering operation

Here's a similar example of what it "should" look like with the glass globe fitting at the top that I broke (not my fault by the way - it shouldn't have been where it was):

So I broke the round white glass globe that used to sit atop our Diana lamp. Globe size 3 inch bottom opening to fit over light bulb and 6 or 7 inches high. Bottom opening of glass globe had a small lip to fit small brass holding screws. Lamp is 12 inches high not including light fitting.

Anyone know where you'd be able to source new glass globes for an antique light like this? I've tried everything I could think of. There's probably a specialised store somewhere in the world that maintains an inventory of glass fittings for lamps like this.
