@JamesAshburnerCBR @rbreich if the company executives made conscious decisions to withhold safety measures, then it’s time to prosecute them for criminal recklessness and negligence. Safety measures are preventative, useful when accidents happen. When they are deliberately withheld to provide greater profits, then those responsible for that decision making need to be in jail.
@rbreich @Accountable_US I’ve been saying it since all this inflation nonsense started, especially the gas prices. It’s just greed. 20 or 30 cents is inflation, 1 and 2 dollars is greed. We are a greedy society that doesn’t seem capable of self regulation anymore. We are driven by money almost exclusively. We make something for 25 cents and then try to sell it for 25 dollars. We care nothing for our citizens or the effect of our actions on others.
@rbreich so true. Only about money, money, and more money. How to get, who to by off wit h it, and who to payoff to win with it.
@rbreich @inequalitymedia one of the unfortunate side effects is that when they pay more, they don’t take away from their profits, they pass the increase along to the consumer.
Greed needs guardrails!

Republicans and their corporate backers are trying to shift costs and risks onto the rest of us

@Popehat good for you. Eat some for me
@rbreich works for me
@rbreich 4% ? It should be more like 30% !
@rbreich it’s just greed. I’m sorry to say we are a country of greed. We make something for 4 cents that we then try to sell for 25.00. When oil was 88.00/barrel back in 2019, we were paying an average of 2.29-2.49 for a gallon of gas. Now oil is 78.00/ barrel and we’re paying well over 3.00/gallon. Then we try to make money on the hardship of others - food , heat, lights, are basic necessities of life. They are not luxuries. It’s Just greed.
