The Guardian signed a partnership with OpenAI in February this year. BTW: They never published this fact on their own site.

A year before they have published an article about their approach to GenAI-tools, very much in contrast with their contract with OpenAI.

In this article for Africa in Fact, Adio writes:
“The choice facing Africa is stark: continue as a data colony providing cheap labour for surveillance tools that serve foreign interests, or assert digital sovereignty by developing governance frameworks that prioritise African lives over foreign profits. ”

On 3 November 2021, Professor Meareg Amare, a respected chemistry academic at Bahir Dar University in Ethiopia’s Amhara region, was gunned down outside his home by men wearing special forces uniforms. Africa in FactAre alive and most of them refuse to believe me until I connected every family with each prisoner over the phone using three way calling. Within days these prisoners were able to pay for the flight ticket and we're deported. I still have good relationship with most of the former detainees who are spread throughout of the world.
The sad thing is that their families believe that they went missing or that they are dead. I once had a chance to speak to hundreds of refugees who were in prison in Aswan for over 7 years, they didn't have any contact with the outside world for over seven years. I was able to talk to these refugees using a prisoner guards phone, they gave me a list of their names and phone numbers of relatives that they could remember. I called their families to share the good news that their loved ones
It was weird for me to understand why Egypt wouldn't pay $300 USD for instead of feeding these people for years in prison. Some of them were detained for over 10 years. The craziest thing was that these prisoners were never allowed a phone call or to send letters to their families. Had they been allowed to make one phone call, their families would had paid the flight tickets within days.
For almost 20 years now, Egypt would arrest non registered refugees and put them in hundreds of prisons through out the country until they get deported to their home countries. These prisoners have two options, to go back to your country or be in prison for endifinate years. Those who agree to be deported can't be deported until they pay for the flight ticket. I have interviewed thousands of detainees in Egypt and I have paid flight tickets for hundreds of detainees who were in prison for years.
