There is a plethora of suitable contexts and users for airborne wind energy, from construction sites to off-grid islands πŸͺ

However, the key lies in gaining maturity and market traction in order to establish the technology.

πŸ” One of the key goals of #MeridionalEU is to better understand and simulate unsteady inflow conditions, and how they affect the performance and loads of onshore, offshore, and airborne wind energy systems.

Discover how we are bridging such knowledge gaps in our article πŸ”— http://bit.ly/3H6LV2r

How does airborne wind energy work, and why is it important for the energy transition? πŸͺ

In #MeridionalEU latest article we explain how kites can harness high-altitude winds to tap into stronger, more stable wind resources while using up to 90% less material 🌬️

πŸ“Έ At the latest #MeridionalEU meeting in Stuttgart, participants explored scientific visualisation through a hands-on Vistle workshop at HLRS - High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart, learning to create 3D visualisations of wind energy simulation data.

Missed it? The full workshop recording is now available to watch online in our dedicated news release: https://meridional.eu/news/vistle-workshop-brings-data-to-life-at-hlrs/

πŸͺ Kites are no longer just for play: in #MeridionalEU first article, journalist Diego Giuliani explains how they are actually reshaping the future of wind energy.

🌬️ By reaching stronger winds at high altitudes with up to 90% less material than traditional turbines, #AirborneWindEnergy systems can power remote areas, cut diesel reliance, and complement offshore wind.

πŸ“Έ At the #MeridionalEU GA hosted by Uni Stuttgart, partners shared key project updates, including drone-based turbine simulations πŸŒ€

Drones help test trajectories, turbulence & more, giving fast, accurate data to improve wind plant predictions.

How can visualisation programs support research in #WindEnergy? πŸ“Š 🌬️

We are excited to announce that #MeridionalEU is going to leverage VISTLE, an open-source scientific visualization platform developed by HLRS - High-Performance Computing Center Stuttgart.

The software will allow unlocking of high-fidelity visualisations of complex wind flow simulations, boosting research in windfarm performance and aerodynamics.
