I am rather confused about this reply! To clarify, I unironically find it cute, and was making a light hearted post to comment on it. Did you intend to reply to someone else?
My understanding is, a community doesn't start federating until someone on your instance kicks it into motion, usually by searching for it (as you have just done). From that point onwards, posts from that community are shared with your instance, but it doesn't go backwards in time.
This is my impression, but hopefully someone else will chime in.

How do I subscribe to a community if it isn't federated yet?
Saw a couple of neat looking communities over on lemmy.world shared in newcommunities. I don't think they're federated yet. I thought if I followed the !communityname@instance link that would trigger federation of that community, but that doesn't seem to be happening (just getting 404). Am I missing something? #kbinMeta
