One thing that's modestly irritating to wake up to is all the liberals, desperate for someone to blame for all this, decide to now blame *everyone except democratic leadership* for it.

The democratic party can't repel fascism. It never could. In part because it believes a lot of the same awful ideas that the fascist right believes. And it shows in their polixy. It shows in their governance. It shows in their botched this US presidential campaign, mark 2.

@mekkaokereke One good explanation I have read: If you are raised in an environment that tells you that you are better than others, where you are treated like a prince whatever you do, then it’s quite logical that the real world makes you angry: You are doing the same things you’ve always done but the reactions are suddenly not enthusiastic anymore. You *could* seek fault with yourself but that wasn’t a skill you were taught.

New Caltrain schedule released, and it's so so good https://www.caltrain.com/media/33909. Changes the commute from huge anxiety about missing a train, to "well the next one is in 15 minutes anyway", nbd, which is a game changer.

Anyone who claims that those of us without children don't care about the future is telling us something important about themself.

They are telling us that they did not care about other people's children.

And they quite possibly still don't care about them, not directly. Their care for their own may well be deep and durable, while their care for others' remains fundamentally contingent. They can think a future is good full stop if it's good for their children. TBH I find that deeply disturbing.
