Book review-ish: "Savage Legion" by Matt Wallace. (@MattFnWallace)
tl;dr: If you'd be interested in starting an epic fantasy series with strongly realised characters, an original non-Tolkienian setting, and deeply embedded anti-fascist themes complete with a story critical of empire, then "Savage Legion" is an impressive book. It's also the first in a trilogy, which is always a good start.
Note: Savage Legion is book one of a trilogy. Only two of the three have been published. But so far, I'm loving it. I am not usually one for reading a series, but I made an exception for this.
Hey! Turns out he is on Mastodon. I shall tag thee, @MattFnWallace
If you have 25 or so minutes, this looks to be the start of a solid series of videos on writing by @MattFnWallace. He opens with his observations on writing action scenes (which I've been personally avoiding like the plague, because I'm terrible at it).
It's good stuff, although I think his intro music could use some polish. π
