In the final analysis humans suck and scripture is more likely to make them suck worse than otherwise.

Would I be out of line, were I to suggest that the country needs to reconsider, if it can afford to continue to provide to Tucker Carlson, the freedoms, liberties, constitutional and other legal protections given to Americans?

And an out of control debt is not a ticket to the Apocalypse. Worst case is a default at some future point with consequent dramatic decreases in spending and increases in taxes. Risking default now reminds me of an essay on masochism I once read. A father punishes a little girl by forcing her hand into boiling water. After repeated instances the girl places her into the pot because the physical pain seems less than the psychological pain of anticipation.
@rbreich On the debt ceiling wouldn't it be smarter if GOP simply forces a vote on the debt ceiling every six months w/o the drama and risk of default. If the electorate, given this repeated exercise, doesn't put budget cutters in office then it's on the American people. (continued)

The meaning of crossing a picket line. An article I read about Dalton Trumbo and the 1960 Spartacus mentioned that President Kennedy, a month after his inauguration crossed a 'picket line' instigated by the American Legion in order to view the movie. The article while approving of Kennedy's role in ending blacklisting stated that crossing a picket line was 'not cool' for a Democrat and a civil rights advocate. This was not a 'picket line' in my book.

Consider the following 2 statements, the first from a contemporary physicist.
"Quantum physics says nothing about how the world is. Instead, quantum physics only describes the experiments we do to test our theories of how the world works—it gives us probabilities for the outcomes that may happen in an experiment."

E Mach:
"Science must disentangle itself from all total pictures of the world, from all weltanschauungs, and confine itself to describing the bare facts of experience."

I don't do math, science of physics so I'm at a big disadvantage here but it looks to me that Ferry is pushing Ernest Mach positivism which is not to say that he's wrong.

Quantum Entanglement Isn’t All That Spooky After All

The way we teach quantum theory conveys a spookiness that isn’t actually there
