As previously mentioned, here's what Einstein had to say about segregation:

"There is a separation of white people and colored people in the United States. That separation is not a disease of colored people. It is a disease of white people. I do not intend to be quiet about it."

For the last 20 years of his career, Einstein declined almost all public speaking engagements, except those at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).

So the person who instigated a fresh wave of harassment my way based on some very ignorant and, to be honest, biased perspectives on #TheBadSpace apologized, and that's cool. Still, it does nothing to stop the abuse and toxicity I have been receiving for the last 24 hours, which will probably continue for the rest of the week.

The fedi has improved, but there is still a powerful undercurrent of anti-Blackness in this space, where people will use anything whether it is true or not, to defame, stalk, and harass Black and Brown people here. They're entire communities that have the sole purpose of trying to push us out of this space.

Personally, I'll be fine. Fighting bigots is just what I do, but most people do not want to deal with the constant nonsense that alleged well-meaning white people constantly enable with their privilege and entitlement.

Yes, apologies and self-reflection are great, but unless one deals directly with the harm and harassment that causes, it is utterly useless in this space because it do not stop anything and only serves to make the instigator of harassment feel better.

Because people like me still have to deal with the aftermath after they turn off their computers and go about their day.
