The fiscal rules we need https://www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2024/10/18/the-fiscal-rules-we-need/ Economics is about the allocation of scarce respources. Money is not a scarce resource as far as government is concerned: it can create all it needs, and we require that it does so. In that case what is the obsession with monetary fiscal rules about and why aren’t we talking about real issues, like tackling poverty, poor housing and insufficient pensions?
The stock market is failing according to the CBI. So why don’t we just let it go?

I posted this on Twitter this morning: https://twitter.com/RichardJMurphy/status/1942861045426516103 My point is serious. The CBI is saying that the situation with regard to the UK stock exchange is getting desperate, because it is losing out to overseas markets and not attracting sufficient business. The question that needs to be asked is, why is that?...

In years gone by the Monopolies Commission ensured a protection that disappeared with Brexit. Now we have a MSM which rarely prints the truth and backs up what they print with evidence based facts, we have the majority of our newspapers owned by Brexiteering, tax evading Non-Dom’s who live outside the UK for tax purposes & declare their tax in tax havens abroad. FairPlay honesty & integrity appear to have disappeared replacing it with lies, innuendo & propaganda in MSM.

People needed at Bournemouth Beach by @ByDonkeys they are spreading clothes out on the beach to represent the 11,500 Palestinian children and 36 Israeli children who’ve been killed since October 7th. Each outfit will represent a child. Please help in any way you can, whether that be an outfit to represent a child or sharing across your social media.

We’re on Bournemouth beach laying out a memorial to the more than 11,500 Palestinian children and 36 Israeli children who’ve been killed since October 7th. It will be over 5km long and we hope to keep it here for 24 hours. The UK, US and other governments should be doing all…

This video & ladies anguish at cost of surviving has really hit me. Resonates for so many. Working people left with nothing. She gives Sunak both barrels “You have us paying for your 2nd homes? £40 daily food allowance? I don’t even spend that a week”

I’d like to congratulate all Tory voters and Brexiters for this… We couldn’t have done it without you.

The message of the morning is clear: our political leadership is out of touch with people https://www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2023/11/29/the-message-of-the-morning-is-clear-our-political-leadership-is-out-of-touch-with-people/. The Tories have lost all sense of the political mood of the country. Labour has lost much of its own party, whilst the population will vote for it with a peg on its nose. Our politicians barely recognise the reality of political sentiment in the country anymore.
