@MagnetoMancer At a phi of below 0.5, the NOx production of #hydrogen combustion is nearly zero. This fact can be exploited, allowing for ultra-low NOx combustors to exist. In reality, hydrogen combustion engines likely will not have a NOx issue.

One slight downside of #hydrogen combustion with air, instead of hydrogen Fuel-Cell recombination, is the production of NOx from the Nitrogen in the air. It happens more when the combustion is hotter, which is a good reason why the previous shared video showed a method to cool it.

Even so, it is very low. But how low? I put the question to Bings AI to tell me which combustion of gas produced the least NOx. Hydrogen or Butane?:

Bing AI:
"When it comes to the production of NOx, hydrogen combustion is generally considered to be more environmentally friendly than butane combustion. However, both fuels can be optimized to produce low-NOx emissions by using various techniques such as EGR and lean-burn combustion."

So, there you go, and since Butane is considered safe indoors, Hydrogen most certainly is also. Think of the lives that could be saved from carbon monoxide poisoning in emergency generators if they all were modified to burn hydrogen.
Following a recent share about hydrogen powered buses; this is a quickie refresher essay on hydrogen gas:

The preferable way to produce
#hydrogen is electrolysis using electricity acquired from Nature's green infinitely renewable clean resources. Electrolysis does not destroy water; but separates it into its two elements Hydrogen and Oxygen which are later recombined into purified water again during "combustion" or fuel-cell exchange outputting much of the original electrolysis electricity. The same water is split and recombined forever. This is the infinite cycle that sets hydrogen up above all other fuels.

I looked for some animated gifs that demonstrate this infinite cycle here:
My own thoughts regarding Solar Panel efficiency: We are talking about an infinite energy resource. We are not happy we can not yet capture 100% of what we know is there. But this should push us to innovate our PV technology, not abandon it, for the electric light it brings during the night when stored; #hydrogen , #GravityWells, etc.

But regarding all those energy resources that are infinite, perhaps not so much insistence on efficiency should be made. This value of efficiency must be a carry over from when we were dealing with oil or coal, whose availability became less every time we use it. But there is no less of Sun no matter how efficiently we are utilizing its powers.

I can see the value of "efficiency" becoming just one factor when comparing which infinite energy converting technology is the one we will sink our time and effort in. For a better world, the other decision factors must now include which infinite conversion technology is the most durable, safest and which requires the least resources to build and maintain.

Just good clean fun:

"Santa Cruz Metropolitan Transit District’s (METRO) Board of Directors unanimously approved the purchase of 57 New Flyer hydrogen-powered, fuel cell electric buses (
#FCEB ). This procurement will be the largest acquisition of FCEBs yet in North America."

I would say this is good news and a definite sign of things to come with Nature's cleanest infinitely recyclable fuel,
#hydrogen.

Hi, friend! I'm new here on BostonSocial.online, and this is my #introduction. I am constantly looking for new friends to help adapt the clean infinite energy sources to power our building of better worlds. So, here I am, 1st time in a FireFish instance, very curious about its special features.

I'm not a typical Solarpunk because I rebel against divisional politics, spending most of my time between my Power Cave at night, and lounging around up in the Solarium on sunny days with my friends. So, you see, I respect your freedom of thought. We can all work together to build happier lives in clean environments using all our instruments of science, intuition, and extra sensory perception. You are welcome to Follow and together we can build better worlds.
