Today, Proud Boys were out at a white nationalist conference in Tennessee and out protesting Drag Queen Story Hour events in Texas and North Carolina. Despite what the pundits say and the end of the midterms, these people aren't going anywhere and neither should we.

Remember: when the campaign for Alabama segregationist George Wallace ended in defeat in the early 1970s, the coalition around him that included Klansman, John Birch Society members, neo-Nazis, and groups like the National Youth Alliance for Wallace, which was led by a white supremacist, Willis Carto - split apart. But in that disintegration, new forms emerged. Out of the National Youth Alliance grew the National Alliance headed by former Wallace supporter, William Pierce. Pierce would go on to build the largest neo-Nazi group in the United States and also pen the 'Turner Diaries,' which would inspire the Oklahoma City bombing and a growing network of white supremacist and survivalist militia groups.

In short, the slow defeat of electoralist Trumpism might foreclosure one avenue for the fascists, but it will ultimately push them into new one: often with greater potential for direct violence against the public at large, the Left, and targeted communities.
