Star Trek TOS, and Kirk in particular, sit in cultural memory for a lot of people as being somewhat goofy -- especially compared to the more serious TNG. At least, that's how my friends and I viewed it; those of us whowho grew up with TOS on reruns in syndication, and watched TNG on its first airings.
Rewatching the TOS series as an adult, I'm struck by how smart most of the show's writing is, and what a good leader Kirk is.
Hi all. I thought I'd give Mastodon a try given all the press it has gotten lately. I'm still feeling my way around. I was never a Twitter user, so the whole debate regarding to what extent Mastodon is a Twitter replacement is lost on me. Ten Forward seemed a good place to land as I, my wife and kids are huge Star Trek fans! (We are also huge Star Wars fans -- I have seen every Star Wars film in the theater).
A few years ago, we went to see Bill Shatner at a screening of Wrath of Khan followed by a Q&A. It was awesome!
I'm happy to see here a lot of authors and actors I like, and a few that I'm just learning about. I play a fair amount of Star Trek Online, and am thrilled with all the series' actors who have contributed to the game.
