@JakobFel hopefully the upgrade you're looking at is the high jump boots in Norfair. You can get them with the tech you have right now.
Once you have high jump, take the elevator back out of Norfair, and investigate to the right.
@JakobFel one more tip: the game never requires you to perform a hell run (traversing heated rooms while taking damage). Nor anywhere that requires a shinespark (except, like wall jump, in the room that teaches it to you).
The next step is perhaps the hardest to find in the game, so fair if you look at spoilers,

There's nowhere in the game that requires wall jumps to progress, except the room that teaches it to you.
