Alright after about 2 hours of reinstalling and trying different options i finally got Sim city 4 and 3000 unlimited to work. But i lost all my save data, so thanks Lutris for completely changing all the wine settings and making proton take over everything.

98% of my games are 32 bit, so the new version didn’t like them. I had to manually change everything and try several different runners to get these to actually work. Some are on System 11, some are on wine ge-8-26-x86_64, and some are on GE-Proton to get them to launch again, But i finally have all 19 games working again. What a pain.

I turned off automatic updates on lutris as a result.

New 0.5.20 Lutris Version broke everything... - Lemmy.World

I hate when you spend weeks getting games to work and then an update happens and everything is now broken. My copies of Simcity REFUSE to launch in any way and now i can’t reinstall them either. All my other games i had to change the runner and redirect the .exe on each game. I may just install 0.5.19 and see if i can get them to start working again. Apparently plenty of people had their game libraries ruined by this update as well and i lost all my hours of Simcity, so that sucks. Anyone else having issues with the update version of lutris?

Favorite Mario Party... - Lemmy.World

I have been going through the library and playing as many different Mario Party’s as i can. I have to say 3 and 6 are pretty awesome. I don’t like 7 or 10 that much at all since they changed so much about the game. What’s your favorite Mario Party games?

After doing tons of research on reparability, I realized Microsoft has ruined the right to repair on the Series S/X consoles with a 1GB partition in XBFS format that no OS can read and has a hardware encryption key in that partition.

All SSD’s fail, and all the Series S/X consoles use WD NVME SSD’s that WILL fail. You cannot just swap hard drives without cloning the original, but if the original isn’t readable, then your console is bricked permanently. The Xbox one consoles don’t have this partition and you can install a new HDD or SSD and just reinstall the OS1, OS2, or OS3 on it and it will work just like before.

This explains why i see at least 4 or 5 broken xbox series X for every 10 working ones i come across. This has removed the possibility of me ever purchasing a xbox series X until a modder or someone can figure out a way around this.

Is the Xbox One X a good console/4k player in 2026?

Is the Xbox One X a good console/4k player in 2026? - Lemmy.World

I wanted an Xbox one so i could play the newer Forza Motorsport series( seems like most people say Forza 6 is the best all around), but it also seems as if the xbox one was on life support by Microsoft since they had to make the Xbox One X with 4k and HDR just to keep up with Playstation and i hear the newer Xbox’s aren’t much more reliable than the older consoles and still suffer from hardware failures. Is it worth it to get an Xbox one X for around $120-160, or is the series X more reliable and so much better it’s worth twice the price. I will mainly use it as a 4k player for my DVD’s and blu ray collection for upscaling and it appears to do a good job at this. Maybe get a couple FPS games as well. Do you think it’s really worth it to splurge on the Series X if i’m not really playing many games on it? I have researched these questions online, but always like talking to people on lemmy, so if you have other suggestions, lemme know!

Playing old Windows games on Linux through Lutris is awesome!

Playing old Windows games on Linux through Lutris is awesome! - Lemmy.World

I use Linux Mint and Lutris and i do own all these games, but lost the key or CD over the years. So i wanted to install them on my little Dell Optiplex with an 6th gen i5 and 32gb of ram with integrated intel graphics 730. You can get any game you want through Archive.org [http://Archive.org] or myabandonware. If you have the .ISO image, just mount it via Image Disk Mounter and use the “i have a windows executable i want to install” through lutris. Find the setup.exe or similarly named .exe file in the iso as the executable for lutris to open. It should install normally like on any windows computer, but create a windows style folder format in it’s own folder on your /home folder. DO NOT LAUNCH THE GAME BEFORE CONFIGURING. You will need to most likely change the game to 32 bit, change the runner options if it doesn’t boot with the default Wine runner. You can try Proton, or the System 9, and usually one of them will work. You will also need to change the path of the executable to the correct autorun exe in the folder. Sometimes they can be hard to find, but look in the APPs folders and every folder and for instance Sim City 3000 unlimited was just SCU3.exe and that is the .exe i needed to launch the game correctly. Some games require winetricks to be enabled, so you can click that box if the game doesn’t launch. Same with DGvoodoo, some games like Carmageddon 2 and Sim City 4 only work well with DGvoodoo. Rollercoaster Tycoon 2 needs a CD unless you use RCT2 tools, which is a fan made software that works amazing for rollercoaster tycoon and all the expansions. Thanks to the RCT2 creators! There is an option to make a game windowed and lutris says the option is not supported, but this option is the only way i was able to get Windows Space Cadet Pinball to work. Game keys can be found many times in the comment sections of archive.org [http://archive.org], or you can look up the game on ebay and many sellers will show the key/code on the back of the CD case that you can use. I have 14 games installed so far and keep finding new games to add. Many of the games run better than they ever did on my old windows equipment. Any questions, just let me know. But look up tutorials on youtube for step by step instructions and if you run into a problem, let me know. Games i currently have working 100% Need for Speed: Porsche Unleashed CnC Tiberian Sun Red Alert Red Alert 2 The Sims complete collection Sim City 3000 Unlimited Sim City 4 Deluxe Carmageddon Max Pack Carmageddon 2: Carpocalypse Now Carmageddon TDR 2000 Rollercoaster Tycoon 2: Triple Thrill Pack Windows Space Cadet Pinball Sid Meier’s Civilization III Complete Sid Meier’s Sim Golf does not work and has many rendering issues as the grass does not show.

Favorite Modded Console?

Favorite Modded Console? - Lemmy.World

Slowly getting back into playing my collection lately since i have a little more freetime. I’m see there are so many consoles out there that can be modded to unlock certain features. I recently modded my Xbox 360 and love not having to deal with my discs anymore and being able to see CPU and GPU temps to avoid damaging the sensitive GPU. I also have a modded Wii and it’s the same situation. No need to deal with discs or worry if they have data rot. So much easier and less concern as my physical copies age. I see the OG Switch can be modded and looking into that, seems like you can actually push it to do 60 FPS instead of the 30 it’s locked into when you buy one if you overclock it. I’ve also heard the PSP and 3DS are awesome to mod, but don’t own them yet. What do you all think is your favorite?
