Sauerkraut, happening on a kitchen counter.

It's been really interesting! At first, it was purple and white, and the liquid it exuded was purple. But as fermentation kicked off, the liquid has turned brown and the cabbage is turning that deep, translucent red.

Also, hello! Kind of stopped posting for a bit.

Found this little fella flexing across the sidewalk in a very determined way. The click of my phone's camera seemed to disturb it, as it started to curl. I picked it up as gently as I could and tossed it into the shrubbery where the Bun lives. Wish I'd known it was a black swallowtail caterpillar, aka a parsley worm, as I have parsley to spare. If I see another one, I will act more rationally.

A nice little progression.

I love seasonality. Here are two shots of may-apple blossoms, as well as some lily-of-the-valley stems and a columbine sharing a small vase.

Tiny flecks of dirt are on two of the mayapple petals. These probably bloomed yesterday or the day before, and the wind has tousled them. They only last a day or three. So glad I caught them again this year!

I take the same picture nearly every year because, as Tolkien says, "In every wood, in every Spring, there is a different green."
