Literally just listen to BIPOC when they say something is affecting them. I dealt with enough “well meaning” cishet white liberals on Twitter who were all too willing to compromise the rights of marginalised communities so they could feel comfortable. If marginalised communities saying your space is hostile to them makes you uncomfortable, maybe step back and think about why that makes you uncomfortable. Your space you want to be welcoming has a problem with being welcoming and your reaction is “I don’t like thinking about that.”

I want Mastodon to work and I want to be a part of this community, but I will not compromise on BIPOC people’s safety and well-being for your comfort. Listen to them.
