Is "Indian Wrestling" Still a Thing (Definition 2)? - Lemmy.World

When I was growing up, my dad would occasionally challenge me and my brothers to “Indian Wrestling.” The feat involved was the second definition according to Mirriam Webster [https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/Indian%20wrestling] (i.e. opponents standing statically and trying to pull each other off balance). I’ve tried to look up people attempting this on youtube and elsewhere without success (it’s always the leg wrestling variety that I find). Does this have a modern non-ethnically-charged name? Do people not do this anymore? I need to know!

How far from a forest fire do you have to be for a daily temperature record to count? - Lemmy.world

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/1745747 [https://lemmy.world/post/1745747] > There have been some impressive (and scary) temperature records set in the past couple weeks. That said, there are parts of Canada that are currently on fire that likely have a daily temperature in the hundreds of degrees. Clearly that doesn’t count for any sort of temperature record. What I’m wondering is: where’s the dividing line? How far away from a big fire do you have to be to record a valid daily temperature?
