we are the most sinuous of snakes
heritage giving us a drowned
appearance
held there in a bog
especially
but rivers can find us tortuously'
headed
don't come too near unless
you see a larger specimen
without
a poisonous mouth
and the hiss is only there
to warn
the poison's in a fatal bite

there were many exits and entrances
we spent all day like foreign bodies
in a wound
colliding continually
with our own made mess

I liked the white arches their alternate
devious way with wondering awry
if only
we'd had the equivalent of a compass
to find the painting by
but Laura found it as the gallery closed
there we both were clothed in paint
but little else
two people were discussing us
lying on the bed
they shook their heads and tutted
but little else was said

how glad I am to live where
the rocks and waterfalls
almost
outnumber people
where arguments
don't rage and politics
cannot intrude except
to do good things

During the event of an empire's collapse and isolation time is convenient for those uninvolved in its demise. Areas who once assumed reliance on its fortunes become aware of their individualism; they band together in a new order, one that returns independence to them they thought irretrievable before the empire receded, after its great monetary and political influence faded. Time and their uniting is of the essence. Bases they once allowed, ship refueling becomes a new order's convenience.
there are over six hundred castles
in Wales
many of them slighted by Cromwell
during the English Civil War
some of them built almost
mathematically arches built
with angles that only allowed
one person to enter at a time
an arrow cutting down the uninvited
or the easy entry where hot oil
enveloped several soldiers
most of these castles were built
by Edward I to subjugate the Welsh
some like Manordeifi for pleasure Geraldus Cambrensis born there
Henry VII
born at Pembroke castle in 1457

My Tide

is controlled by Selena
I'm in love with every
moon she makes
the pale daytime
offerings mere shades
of me
every other
the full glowing desire
I have for Anais
the smell of her face,
her hands, her hair;
I am happy, controlled
by my Selena of the moon

Silence

beside each other stand
the evergreen and deciduous,
which is the constant of the two?
Neither and yet both!
Silently one sheds brown needles
yet is called an evergreen
the deciduous cannot be trusted
as it sheds leaves every year
and in the summer heat
is known to lose vitality
they do what Nature tells them

unless some other force
ignores their silent presence
mistakes their lose of colour
or budding in late autumn
continues its perversity
until gone the eleventh hour.

Matrix

how the matrix overhead
kept the wind out off the sea
when we kissed that day
I keep this picture of its winter
shielding two women
and when
I look at it there's the taste of your
mouth on mine
why does the world need to hate
when everyone could have
a love like ours
just for its picking off a tree?

It's February and cold but not too cold
for a selfie or a selfie shadow walking
this day sun shone to let fresh thoughts
trickle through my mind where six exist
already at its lowest water mark
allowing
fresh patterns to emerge
like making hay in winter's stolid
refusal to acknowledge
spring 's colour unites
with grasses
is killing last vestiges of winter

The House

had come into their possession from an aunt
Sara
she was a lover of many rooms
the building lay on the opposite
side of the bridge
in the town
the six discussed what would
happen
but it was ultimately Laura's decision
they were happy living on the estuary
although Clarice was finding
it difficult
she suggested it would be perfect
for a female only brothel
or a museum for local artifacts
the others were rather shocked
although they understood
the suggestion impossible
