Chloé Savard on Instagram: "Is weed legal in your state or country? 👀 Not only cannabis can be use medicinally and recreationally, it’s one of the oldest food source and textile fiber in Eurasia. It also have been long used for hemp seeds and oils. Since then, it has been cultivated worldwide! This annual flowering plant is known to produce at least 120 different phytocannabinoids including THC and CBD and 445 other phytochemicals like terpenoids, fatty acids, alcohols and sugars. THC is well known for its psychoactive activities (getting you high 🪁) while CBD has been studied for its huge therapeutic potential, especially in neurodegenerative diseases, epilepsy, autoimmune disorders and cancer. As for terpenoids, they’re the main components of essential oils and are responsible for the distinctive aromates of weed. For example, terpernes like pinene is responsible for the pine scent while limonene is responsible for a more citrusy odour. Cannabinoids can be found in all parts of the plants; stalls, leaves, flowers, resin and seeds. Although, one type of structure, called trichome, produces more cannabinoids and terpenes! You can see them very well in the clips; they’re these stalked bubbles that reflects light vividly. Trichomes are only produced on female flowers and when they’re heated, the molecules they contain, like CBD acids and THC acids which are inactive, are decarboxylated into their bioactive states and are ready to be recognized by the human body, more specifically by receptors of our endocannabinoid system.
