Thats pretty brutal. Putin is well on his way to being considered the greatest villain of the 21st century with his complete lack of concern over loss of human life. I do feel sad for a lot of these young men who think they are doing something heroic, when really they are dying for the vain ambitions of a dictator cowering in a bunker in Moscow.

My wife says: “people, places and things”. But I’m pretty sure she is just quoting April Ludgate.
The explosion should have been completely silent! My immersion is ruined!!!
Yeah it absolutely would benefit from a wider range of opinions. That’s why a large portion of my comments are “against the grain”, I don’t see the value of reinforcing prevailing opinions in an echo chamber. I hope that as Lemmy grows we will see more diverse opinions, but what I think is more likely is that the hard-core leftist part of Lemmy will sort of secede and defederate so they can preserve their echo chamber while the rest of lemmy gets taken over by “normies”
Not very Auth of you! You sound like a hedonistic libertarian to me.

It takes patience but you can block all the political communities. Once you do that you just have to block a dozen or so super users who spam the other communities with political content.

That’s the thing that drives me crazy- communities that really should be non-political like “Pictures” or idk “Cars” are full of posts like “Heres what Trumps reversal of EPA regulations means for the future of EVs.” Like I get it Trumps bad but can’t you contain that discussion to the 5000 communities devoted to politics?

I mean the original line was “where no man has gone before” which at least made sense, although it didn’t represent the female crew very well.

Yeah people in the comments are talking about wind turbines killing birds being a hoax though. It definitely isn’t.

Another important distinction is that wind turbines disproportionately kill raptors like eagles, which are not threatened by cats.

People saying this is some kind of hoax have not done their research. As someone who works for a renewable energy company they do hit birds (and bats, which are attracted to their low-frequency hum). I thought it was kind of nonsense before this job, but up close you realize those blades are spinning FAST. Theres nothing like them in the animal kingdom so birds arent afraid of them. There are steps you can take to mitigate the threat, but it is a valid concern. On the whole, though, they are still much better for the environment than pretty much any other type of energy generation.
