Another precaution - replace any bank account to which you have had Federal checks deposited (payroll, Social Security, tax refunds). The fastest, easiest, and least disruptive way is to open a new account. Move funds into it as soon as they are deposited into the old account.
Move any scheduled automatic payments to the new account as you can, leaving only enough in the old account to cover those.
Considering the severity of the data breaches at Treasury (among others), locking your credit would be a good idea. (Don't forget your kid's accounts - if they have a Social Security number, they may have one.)
