Why don’t plane companies already put computers in their planes, are they stupid??
Oh wait, they do. And they still have expensive pilots, because the billions from Boeing, Airbus, Garmin, Lockheed, BAE etc. couldn’t get it to be perfectly reliable [1] in all edge cases.
[1]: actually, not reliable enough. Risk assessment and management in planes is a super fascinating topic, the only risk-free plane would never move and cost 50 quadrillion dollars
My alcohol and caffeine history is pretty typical, grew out of alcohol and found a reasonable relationship with coffee and tea.
Now weed gives me hangovers and the potential for bad trips. I have never been a regular stoner, and I am considering limiting myself even further (every few months). Psychedelics even less, but that kind of comes by design, if you are a responsible person.
There is no way in hell that I am touching opiates or amphetamines for recreation. I know I am someone who enjoys drugs, and I don’t know if I had the willpower to stop if I start.
All in all, quite happy with the status quo. Everything in moderation, even the moderation.
Just drink herbal tea then, I guess.
Having said that, I do feel coffee, and I am not going to stop.
I would argue that the steam and even combustion engine are much easier to build than a solar panel, if you know how.
If he was given detailed instructions, I believe a mediaeval blacksmith could have build a steam engine. As soon as we go to 17th/18th century, we can probably build a combustion engine. Sure, it will be a bad engine, but it will do the job of burning refined oil and spinning.
But a solar panel? You need clean rooms, which need air purification, you need working knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing. Much harder than a solar thermal steam engine and a few lead or zinc batteries.
