Right now Mastodon is only receiving appr. $21,000/month through Patreon.

This is not enough to handle the 1 million new accounts that will be made this week.

Currently, only 4,720 patrons are donating to Mastodon.

(And still learning the field, so let me try this again🥴)
Looming demise for the bird site made me rethink my options. Anyway,  I'm usually on sm for fundraising, local Unhoused Advocacy works in DC to help our neighbors with supplies, advocating for better treatment by the local lawmakers, and am a general rock in the shoe for the upper class.
My question is, how would folks on this site feel about efforts to get direct aid ($) raised here? I also have an amzn(🫠🤢) acct for folks to send supplies themselves if $ is uncomfortable.
Thoughts, leads, opinions, all are welcome!

If you see a post and you think "I like this post. Other people would like this, too." then you should click the boost button. It tells the author you liked it, shares it for others to see, and shows other people some content in your timeline so they have a sense of whether or not they want to follow you. And it makes you "the algorithm" because you contribute to the things your followers will see in their timelines and they do the same for you.
